When we first built Batch File Shipping, it was a desktop application designed to solve a straightforward problem: converting order spreadsheets into UPS batch shipping templates. It worked well, but as our users' needs grew, so did the limitations of a desktop-only tool.
Today, we're excited to announce that Batch File Shipping has been completely rebuilt as a modern web application. Everything you loved about the desktop version is still here — but now it's faster, more accessible, and packed with new capabilities that simply weren't possible before.
Why We Made the Move
Our desktop app served us well, but users kept running into the same friction points:
- Installation hassles — downloading, installing, and updating on every machine
- No cross-device access — your templates and data were locked to one computer
- Manual updates — new features required downloading a new version
- No collaboration — sharing templates between team members meant exporting files
Moving to the web eliminates all of these issues. Now you can log in from any browser, on any device, and your templates, SKU data, and conversion history are right there waiting for you.
What's New in the Web Version
This isn't just a port of the desktop app — it's a ground-up rebuild with meaningful improvements:
- Cloud-synced templates & SKU data — create once, access anywhere
- Instant updates — new features and fixes are available the moment they ship
- Conversion history — track every file you've processed
- Free tier — 5 conversions per month, 3 templates, and 50 SKU entries at no cost
- Pro plan — unlimited everything for power users who process high volumes
Introducing AI Match
AI Match uses artificial intelligence to automatically map your file's column headers to UPS template fields — turning minutes of manual drag-and-drop into a single click.
One of the biggest time sinks in template creation has always been the field mapping step. UPS batch files have over 90 fields, and manually dragging each of your spreadsheet columns to the right field is tedious, especially when you're setting up templates for the first time.
AI Match changes that entirely. When you upload a sample file and click the AI Match button, our system analyzes your column headers and intelligently suggests which UPS fields they correspond to. Headers like "Ship To City" automatically map to the City field, "Phone Number" maps to Telephone, "Item SKU" maps to SKU — and so on.
The feature is powered by machine learning running on Cloudflare's global edge network, so it's both fast and private. And because the web platform makes it easy for us to integrate AI capabilities, this is just the beginning — expect more intelligent features in the months ahead.
Of course, you're always in control. After AI Match suggests its mappings, you can review, adjust, or override any field before saving your template.
Getting Started
If you were a desktop user, getting started is simple: create a free account, log in, and start building your templates. Your workflow stays the same — upload a file, map the fields, convert — but now it's all in your browser.
